This summer, CONTE PAS MUSIC invites aspiring songwriters and music enthusiasts to participate in our Summer Songwriting Workshop Series, held every Thursday evening over eight weeks. This free series provides a supportive environment to develop songwriting skills, exchange ideas, and build confidence.
Each session is structured to explore different facets of songwriting—from lyrics and melody to arrangement and performance techniques. Our experienced facilitators, themselves accomplished musicians and lyricists, guide participants through exercises designed to spark creativity and improve craft.
Workshop Breakdown:
- Week 1: Introduction to Songwriting – Understanding song structures and basics of melody and harmony.
- Week 2: Crafting Lyrics – Techniques for storytelling, poetic devices, and emotional expression in words.
- Week 3: Melody and Rhythm – Creating memorable melodies and rhythmic patterns that complement lyrics.
- Week 4: Collaborative Writing – Working in pairs or groups to generate fresh ideas and learn from peers.
- Week 5: Arrangement Essentials – Using chords, dynamics, and instrumentation to bring songs to life.
- Week 6: Performance Skills – Tips for delivering songs with confidence and connecting with an audience.
- Week 7: Recording Basics – Introduction to home recording and capturing song demos with accessible technology.
- Week 8: Showcase Preparation – Final polish and rehearsal for the concluding open mic event.
On the last Thursday, August 28, participants present their original songs in a relaxed open mic concert open to the public. This celebratory event fosters a strong sense of community and highlights the achievements of the workshop attendees.
The Summer Songwriting Workshop Series welcomes all skill levels—from beginners eager to write their first song to seasoned musicians seeking fresh inspiration. No prior songwriting experience is necessary.
